Safety Precautions

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta and 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:

When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to clearance issues:

  • Route all lines and wires in their original locations.
  • For example, fuel, hydraulic, Evaporative Emission (EVAP), coolant, refrigerant, brake fluid and vacuum lines.
  • Ensure sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.
CAUTION:

When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to clearance issues:

  • The fuel or fuel lines in the fuel system can become very hot (danger of scalding)!
  • Wear protective eyewear, gloves and clothing during all work on the fuel system to prevent eye injuries and scalding.
  • In addition, the fuel system is under pressure! Before opening the system, place a cloth around the connection area and release pressure by carefully loosening the connection!
  • If the fuel system components between the fuel tank and high pressure fuel pump were removed or replaced, the fuel system must be filled in order to bleed it. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM, FILLING AND BLEEDING . (Avoid running the high pressure fuel pump dry.)
