Clean Working Conditions

When working on the fuel supply/injection system, pay careful attention to the following "7 rules" of cleanliness:

Thoroughly clean all connections and the surrounding areas before disconnecting.
Place Parts that have been removed on a clean surface and cover them using lint free cloths.
Carefully cover or seal opened components, if repairs are not performed immediately.
Install only clean Parts, remove the replacement Parts from their packaging just before installing them. Do not use Parts that have been stored loose (for example, in a tool box, etc.).
Transport and protective packaging and sealing caps are to be removed only immediately prior to installation.
When the fuel system is open: avoid working with compressed air if possible. Do not move the vehicle unless absolutely necessary.
In addition, do not allow diesel fuel to leak onto the coolant hoses. If necessary, the hoses must be wiped off immediately. Replace any corroded hoses.
