Cylinder Head Cover

Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required 

• Torque wrench (5-50 Nm) VAG 1331
• Spring type clip pliers VAS 5024A
• Ignition coil puller T 40039

Removing 

-- Remove the engine cover/upper air filter housing. Refer to ENGINE COVER/UPPER AIR FILTER HOUSING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the ignition coils with power output stages. Refer to IGNITION COILS WITH POWER OUTPUT STAGES .

-- Disconnect the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) line -1- from the cylinder head cover.

-- Remove the crankcase ventilation valve housing bolts -arrows- from the cylinder head cover.

-- Remove the crankcase ventilation line bolts -1- and heat shield from the turbocharger.

-- Disconnect the EVAP line from the turbocharger to the cylinder head cover -2-.

-- Loosen the cylinder head cover bolts from the outside toward the inside.

-- Remove the cylinder head cover.

Installing 

Installation is performed in reverse order. When doing this note the following:

-- Tighten the cylinder head cover bolts from the inside working toward the outside in several stages.

-- Observe the correct positioning of the upper toothed belt guard.
