Clean Working Conditions
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta and 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
When working on the fuel supply/injection system, pay careful attention to the following "7 rules" of cleanliness:
- Thoroughly clean all connections and the surrounding area before disconnecting.
- Place parts that have been removed on a clean surface and cover them using lint free cloths.
- Carefully cover or seal, opened components if repairs are not performed immediately.
- Install only clean parts: remove the replacement parts from their packaging just before installing them. Do not use parts that have been stored loose (for example, in a tool box, etc.).
- Supplied transport and protective packaging and sealing covers should only be removed immediately before installing.
- When the fuel system is open: avoid working with compressed air if possible. Do not move the vehicle unless absolutely necessary.
- In addition, do not let diesel fuel leak onto the coolant hoses. If necessary, the hoses must be wiped immediately. Replace any corroded hoses.
