Fuel Consumption Display, Adaptation

NOTE: Consumption indicator can only be adapted once between 85% and 115%. Value must be entered in steps of 5%.
  1. Connect VAG 1551 scan tool. See Figure .
  2. Select operating mode 1 "Rapid data transfer."
  3. Switch ignition on.
  4. Enter address word 17 for "instrument cluster."
  5. After control module identification is displayed, press forward (right) arrow button. Indicated on scan tool:
    • Rapid data transfer HELP
    • Select function XX
  6. Press buttons "1" and "0" to select function 10 "Adaptation." Indicated on scan tool:
    • Rapid data transfer Q
    • 10 - Adaptation
  7. Press "Q" button to confirm input. Indicated on scan tool:
    • Adaptation
    • Enter channel number XX
  8. Press buttons "0" and "3."
  9. Press "Q" button to confirm input. Indicated on scan tool:
    • Channel 03 adaptation 100
    • - 1 3-
  10. Press the forward (right) arrow button to continue. Indicated on scan tool:
    • Channel 03 adaptation 100
    • Enter adaptation value XXXXX
    NOTE: Correction of fuel consumption display is only possible via direct input.
  11. Input desired correction value using scan tool keypad, filling initial positions with "0". For example, a desired input value for: 90%, use a keypad input of 0090). Indicated on scan tool:
    • Channel 03 adaptation 100 Q
    • Enter adaptation value 00090
  12. Press "Q" button to confirm input. Indicated on scan tool:
    • Channel 03 adaptation 90 Q
    • - 1 3-
  13. Press "Q" button to confirm input again. Indicated on scan tool:
    • Channel 03 adaptation 90 Q
    • Store modified value?
  14. When "Store modified value?" is indicated on the display, press "Q" to confirm input. Indicated on scan tool:
    • Channel 03 adaptation 90
    • Modified value has been stored
  15. Conclude adaptation of the consumption indicator by pressing the forward (right) arrow button. Indicated on scan tool:
    • Rapid data transfer HELP
    • Select function XX
    NOTE: If input is incorrect, tester switches to function mode.
  16. If "Function is unknown or can not be performed at the moment" is indicated on the screen, press forward arrow button. Select "Adaptation" function 10 again and select adaptation channel 03. Repeat correction of the consumption indicator and press "Q" button to confirm input.
