Work sequence
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Disconnect intake manifold flap change-over valve connector.
- Measure resistance between change-over valve terminals.
- Specification: 25.0 to 45.0 Ω
If specification is not obtained:
- Replace Intake Manifold Flap Change-over Valve N239.
- Check DTC memory and, if necessary, repair any malfunctions and then erase → Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, checking and erasing .
- Read readiness code → Readiness code, displaying .
If DTC memory has been erased, the readiness code must be generated again → Readiness code, setting .
If specification is obtained:
- Measure voltage supply for change-over valve between the terminals of the connector.
- Start engine and run at idling speed.
- Specification: 5.0 to 6.0 V
- Switch ignition off.
- Voltage value must increase to 11.0 to 15.0 Volts (battery voltage) and after approx. 3 seconds fall to 0.0 Volts
If the voltage values do not change as described:
- Remove wiper arms and plenum cover. →92 WINDSHIELD WIPER & WASHER SYSTEM
- Connect test box V.A.G 1598/22 (through my 1999) or test box V.A.G 1598/31 (from my 2000) to control module wiring harness.
- Check wiring between test box and connector for open circuit according to wiring diagram.
| Test box socket no. | ||
| Terminal | Through MY 1999 | From MY 2000 |
| 1 | 3 | 81 |
| 2 | 2 | 1 |
| 2 | 28 | 2 |
- Wire resistance: max. 1.5 Ω
- Check wires for short to one another, to vehicle Ground and to battery positive (B+).
- Specification: ∞ Ω
If no wiring malfunction is detected:
- Replace engine control module → Diesel Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) Engine Control Module (ECM) J248 , replacing .
