Safety precautions when working on the fuel supply system
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
CAUTION:
The feed line is under pressure! Place clean rags around the hose connections, then reduce the pressure by disconnecting the hose very slowly and carefully.
Note the following when removing or installing the fuel pump (fuel delivery unit) or the fuel gauge sensor in filled or partially filled fuel tanks:
- Before starting work, the hose from a running waste gas exhaust system must already be in place near the tank opening to collect gases escaping from the fuel. An explosion-proof radial fan (motor outside the airflow) with a capacity larger than 15 m 3 /h may be used if no waste gas system is available.
- Prevent the skin contact with the fuel! Wear fuel-resistant gloves!
