Radiator, removing and installing: Notes

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Drip tray V.A.G 1306
• Torque wrench V.A.G 1331
• Hose clip pliers V.A.G 1921
• Anti-freeze protection tester

Removing 

• Drain coolant. Refer to Cooling system, draining and filling  .
• Remove front bumper: Refer to 50 BODY, FRONT
• Remove coolant hoses from radiator.
• Remove connectors from thermal switch and radiator fan.

• Bring lock carrier into service position: Refer to 50 BODY, FRONT
• Remove bolts from radiator and remove radiator with fans downward.

Installing 

Installation is in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

• Fill with coolant. Refer to Cooling system, draining and filling  .
