WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Drift 3121
- Reamer 7 mm 3120 and cutting oil
Removing
- Clean and check cylinder head.
NOTE:
- Do not replace the valve guides in cylinder heads where the valve seats can no longer be reworked, or cylinder heads which have already been machined to the minimum dimension.
- Press worn valve guides out using drift 3121 from the camshaft side (valve guide with shoulder service version - from combustion chamber side).
Installing
- Press new guides in up to shoulder (lubricated with oil) from camshaft side in cold cylinder head using drift 3121.
NOTE:
- After the valve guide with the shoulder is seated, the pressing force may not be increased over 1.0 t, otherwise the shoulder could break off.
- Hone valve guide using hand reamer. Always use cutting oil for this.
- Rework valve seats. Refer to Valve seats, reworking .
