Installing Valve Body

- If it has not yet been done, move selector element - A - to this position.
This corresponds to selector lever position "2".
- Insert new seals - arrows - in transmission housing.
It is essential to make sure that seals do not slip when valve body is set in place.
- Install valve body, engaging pin of selector segment in groove of spool valve.
- Secure valve body with 2 bolts.
- Remove rubber band from spool valve.
The operation of the spool valve must be checked now!
- Shift selector shaft from 2 to 3 and back.
You can continue with assembly if spool valve - arrow - moves as well.
- Valve body must be removed again if spool valve - arrow - does not move as well.
- Tighten bolts for valve body - arrows - hand-tight.
- Tighten bolts to 8 Nm, working from inside outwards.
- Clip wiring harness for transmission sensors - 3 - into retaining tabs - 4 - provided.
- Push on connectors - 1 - and - 2 -.
Apply sealant D 176 404 A2 to valve body cover as follows:
- Cut off tube nozzle at forward marking (nozzle approx. 3 mm dia).
- Apply sealant to clean sealing surface of valve body cover as shown. The sealant bead must be:
- 3 to 4 mm thick
- and run along inside edge of bolt holes - arrows -.

- Install valve body cover - 2 -.
- Tighten valve body cover bolts diagonally in several stages.
- Push breather cap - 1 - onto valve body cover.
- Install and adjust Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch F125. Refer to Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch F125 , removing, installing and adjusting .
Further installation is in reverse order of removal.
- Fill with ATF; check ATF level and top off. Refer to ATF level, checking and topping off .
- Initiate basic setting in Guided Fault Finding with VAS 5051.
Basic setting can also be initiated in Self-Diagnosis with tester V.A.G 1551.
