Rear final drive, removing

Remove rear part of exhaust system → 26 - EXHAUST SYSTEM, EMISSION CONTROLS for 1.8 LITER 4-CYL. 5V TURBO ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): AWD, AWW, AWP (A4 PLATFORM), 26 - EXHAUST SYSTEM, EMISSION CONTROLS for 1.9 LITER 4-CYL. 2V TDI ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): ALH (A4 PLATFORM), 26 - EXHAUST SYSTEM, EMISSION CONTROLS for 1.9 LITER 4-CYL. 2V TDI PD ENGINE MECHANICAL, FUEL INJECTION GLOW PLUG, ENGINE CODE(S): BEW (A4 PLATFORM), 26 EXHAUST SYSTEM, EMISSION CONTROLS for 2.0 LITER 4-CYL. 2V ENGINE MECHANICAL, FUEL INJECTION & IGNITION, ENGINE CODE(S): AEG, AVH, AZG, BBW, BEV (A4 PLATFORM), 26 - EXHAUST SYSTEM, EMISSION CONTROLS for 2.8 LITER VR6 2V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): AFP (A4 PLATFORM), 26 - EXHAUST SYSTEM, EMISSION CONTROLS for 2.8 LITER VR6 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, ENGINE CODE(S): BDF (A4 PLATFORM) and 26 - EXHAUST SYSTEM, EMISSION CONTROLS for 3.2 LITER VR6 4V ENGINE MECHANICAL, FUEL INJECTION IGNITION, ENGINE CODE(S): BJS (A4 PLATFORM) .
Remove heat shield from vehicle floor beneath luggage compartment.
Mark position of rear driveshaft tube to final drive flange using colored marker.

Remove rear driveshaft tube with flexible disc and vibration dampener from rear final drive - arrows -.
Remove right drive axle from flange and tie securely between upper and lower lateral control arms.
Remove left drive axle from flange and tie securely at lower lateral control arm.

Remove securing bolts - A - and - B - of front mounting bracket / final drive.
Remove securing bolts - C - of front mounting bracket / final drive from subframe using socket wrench insert T10035.

Place engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383/A with universal support 1359/2 only under final drive and secure.
Remove right and left securing bolts for subframe ( - arrow A - ).
Remove right and left securing bolts for rear mounting bracket / final drive ( - arrow B - ).

NOTE:

Illustration shows accordingly only one of the two securing bolts.

Disconnect electrical connector for Haldex clutch ( - arrow C - ).

Pull breather pipe at right and left off carrier - arrow -.

NOTE:

Illustration shows only the left breather pipe.

Lower final drive slightly and carefully pull out of subframe using engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383/A.
Lower final drive.

If final drive is to be replaced or is to be clamped in assembly stand, remove it from mounting bracket - A -.

If final drive must be replaced, left breather pipe - A - (400 mm long) and right breather pipe - B - (300 mm long) must be altered.
