Oil pressure switch, checking

Test conditions
- Engine oil level OK, checking Markings on oil dipstick .
- Oil pressure warning lamp K3 must light up for approx. 3 seconds when ignition is switched on
- Engine oil temperature at least 80 ° C (radiator fan must have run once)
Test sequence
- Remove sound insulation pan, along with left and right sides: Refer to 50 BODY, FRONT
- Remove oil pressure switch F1 and screw it into oil pressure gauge V.A.G 1342.
- Screw oil pressure gauge V.A.G 1342 with adapter V.A.G 1342/14 into oil filter housing in place of oil pressure switch.
NOTE:
- Note installation position of adapter: The conical connecting neck of the adapter is screwed to the pressure hose of the tester.
- Connect brown wire of tester to ground (-).
- Connect voltage tester V.A.G 1527B using adapter cables from connector test kit V.A.G 1594C to B+ and oil pressure switch. LED must not light up.
If LED lights up:
- Replace oil pressure switch F1.
If the LED does not light up:
- Start engine and run at idle speed. At 1.2 to 1.6 bar pressure LED must light up; otherwise replace oil pressure switch F1.
