Valve stem seals, replacing: Removing

(with cylinder head installed)

Remove camshaft. Refer to Camshaft, removing and installing .
Remove hydraulic lifters and place them with contact surface downward. Ensure that lifters will not be interchanged.
Set piston of respective cylinder to top dead center (TDC).

Mount assembly tool 2036 and adjust mountings to height of studs.
Remove valve springs using valve lever VW 541/1A and press tool VW 541/5.

NOTE:

The valves are supported by the piston crown.
