Safety precautions

CAUTION:
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to the cramped conditions:
- Route all the various lines (e.g. for fuel, hydraulics, EVAP system, coolant, refrigerant, brake fluid and vacuum) and electrical wiring in their original positions.
- Ensure that there is sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.
To prevent injuries to persons and/or damage to the injection and glow plug system, note the following:
- The ignition must be switched off before connecting or disconnecting injection or glow plug system wiring or tester cables.
- If the engine is to be turned at starter speed, without starting, e.g. when checking compression, disconnect unit injector connector on cylinder head.
- Before disconnecting the battery, obtain the radio code for radios with an anti-theft coding.
- Only disconnect and connect the battery when the ignition is switched off, otherwise the diesel direct injection system control module may be damaged.
Observe following if test and measuring instruments are required during a test drive:
- Test and measuring instruments must be secured to the rear seat and operated by a second person from this location.
If test and measuring instruments are operated from the front passengers seat and the vehicle is involved in an accident, there is a possibility that the person sitting in this seat may receive serious injuries when the airbag is triggered.
