Drive plate, removing and installing: Installing

Position drive plate and packing plate - 1 - with recesses aligned. (Shim - 2 - added later).
Secure counterhold VW 558 to drive plate with M8x45 hex bolt. Place two M10 hex nuts between counterhold tool and drive plate.

Installed position of counterhold: B - To tighten

Install new bolts - 3 - and tighten to 30 Nm.

Check dimension - a - at three points and calculate average. Specification: 19.5 to 21.1 mm

NOTE:

Dimension - a - is measured through hole in drive plate to the milled surface of the cylinder block.

If specification is not attained:

Remove drive plate again and install appropriate shim - 2 -. Retighten bolts - 3 - again to 30 Nm.
Tighten bolts - 3 - to 60 Nm and turn 90 ° ( 14 ) further (turning further can be done in several stages).
