Engine, securing to assembly stand

When working on the engine, it must be secured to support clamp VW 313 using engine and transmission bracket VW 540.

Work sequence

Remove transmission.

Vehicles with automatic transmission

Secure torque converter to prevent it from falling out after separating engine from transmission.

Attach lifting tackle 2024 A as follows and lift off engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A with workshop crane.

Belt pulley end: 2nd hole on support bar in position 1

Flywheel end: 4th hole on support bar in position 8

CAUTION: The hooks and locating pins must be secured with locking pins.

NOTE:

The positions marked 1 to 4 on the bar must be toward the belt pulley end.
The holes in the hook rails are counted up from the hook.

Secure engine to support clamp VW 313 using engine and transmission bracket VW 540.

NOTE:

First loosen coolant pipe at flywheel end.
