Electrical testing with (VAG1598 test box): Requirements

- Battery Positive Voltage (B+) OK
- Fuses 18 (S18) and 21 (S21) OK
- Ground (GND) connections on engine and transmission OK (location of engine Ground (GND) connection: on support for upper intake manifold). See MULTIPORT FUEL INJECTION (MFI) - 2.8L VR6, AA .
- Fuel Pump (G6) and Fuel Pump Relay (J17) OK
- Switch ignition OFF.
- Disconnect connector -1- from Motronic Engine Control Module (J220) -2-.
- Connect VAG 1598 test box and VAG 1598/18 adapter to Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) harness connector.
- Carry out tests according to table. See ELECTRICAL TEST TABLE .
CAUTION:
Switch multimeter to the appropriate measuring range before connecting the test leads to avoid damaging electronic components.
NOTE:
After electrical testing on vehicles with automatic transmission, the DTC "Engine/trans. electrical connection: open circuit" is stored in the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and must be erased. See ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD)
