Electrical testing with (VAG1598 test box): Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Volkswagen Jetta III, 1995 Volkswagen GTI, and 1994 Volkswagen Jetta III. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
- Use Fluke 83 hand-multimeter (US 1119 or equivalent) and US 1115 LED tester.
- Specified values are valid for ambient temperatures from 0 to +40°C (32 to 104°F)
- If measured values deviate from specified values, check for wiring damage using the wiring diagram.
- If measured values deviate only slightly from specified values, clean Scan Tool (ST) terminals, connectors and adapter cables, then repeat the test. Before replacing components, check wiring and connections and repeat the test, especially when specified values are under 10 Ohms.
CAUTION:
Switch multimeter to the appropriate measuring range before connecting the test leads to avoid damaging electronic components.
- To connect VAG 1598 Test Box, use VAG 1598/18 adapter, and cables from VW 1594 adapter kit.
- The connector terminal numbers match the terminal numbers of the VAG 1598 Test Box.
- In addition to tests described in the table, check wiring for short to Ground (GND) or Battery Positive Voltage (B+) as necessary.
