Electrical test table: Notes

ELECTRICAL TEST (STEPS 1 TO 5)

  • Measuring range: Switch to voltage measurement -V-.

  • Ignition switched OFF
  • Bridge sockets 9 + 55 on Test Box
1 + 23 Approx. Battery Positive Voltage (B+)
3 Wiring to Fuel Pump (FP) relay (J17)
  • Switch ignition ON
Bridge 6 + 55 Fuel pump must be heard to run (audible)
4 Voltage Supply for Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor (G70) (4 -pin connector)
  • Ignition switched ON
  • Pull connector off MAF Sensor (G70)
  • Connect multimeter across terminals 1 + 3(2)
Bridge 6 + 55 Approx. Battery Positive Voltage (B+)
5 Voltage Supply for Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor (G70) (6 -pin connector)
  • Ignition switched OFF
  • Disconnect connector from MAF Sensor (G70)
  • Connect multimeter across terminals 1 + 5(3)
  • Bridge 9+55
Approx. Battery Positive Voltage (B+)

ELECTRICAL TEST (STEPS 6 AND 7)

  • Measuring range: Voltage measurement -V- selected.

Briefly bridge 37+38 Air conditioner compressor clutch must be heard to engage

ELECTRICAL TEST (STEPS 12 TO 19)

  • Switch ignition OFF.
  • Measuring range: Switch to resistance measurement -Ω-.

(2) If the On Board Diagnostic indicates a sensor malfunction which is not established by this test, it could be caused by a temporary break in the temperature signal. In this case, additionally check the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor. See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR, CHEC .
