Work step 5: Diagnosis of leak detection system

Press keys 0 and 4 for "Initiate basic setting" function and confirm entry with Q key.

Run engine for 30 seconds at idle and check specifications:
If diagnostic is initiated from Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) -J220-, display in display field 4 changes from "Test OFF" to "Test ON".
Allow engine to continue running at idle until "Syst. OK." is displayed in display field 4.

NOTE:

If the display in display field 4 changes from "Test ON" to "Test OFF" during diagnostic, and "Abort" is displayed in display field 2, repeat EVAP system/fuel tank leak detection.
Briefly open the fuel filler cap before repeating the diagnostic.

If the specified values are not attained:

Check DTC memory. See Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory .
If the specified values are attained:
Press C key.
