Glow plug system, general information

Vehicles with the 1.9 liter ECO Diesel, engine code AAZ, are equipped with a glow plug system that is actuated by the Automatic Glow Time Control Module -J179-, via the driver's door contact switch. After getting into the vehicle, the "pre-glow" period begins when the driver's door is closed.

Automatic Glow Time Control Module -J179- terminal T18/7 is connected to the driver's door contact switch.

NOTE: The system described above was implemented as a running change in production. On some early 1993 models the Automatic Glow Time Control Module -J179- terminal T18/7 is connected to Ground (GND), and the glow plug system does not operate inconjunction with the driver's door. The "pre-glow" function operates only when the ignition key is switched on.
