Checking fuel tank and fuel filler cap

- Remove fuel filler cap.
- Connect hand vacuum pump US 8026/VAG 1390 to vacuum tester VAG 1368/US 9204 connection -B-.
- Connect vent hose -3- (from fuel tank) to vacuum tester VAG 1368/US 9204 connection -A-.
- Set vacuum tester to -A/B - position.
- Operate vacuum pump US 8026/VAG 1390 several times.
- Vacuum must not build up.
If vacuum builds up:
- Check gravity valve. See FUEL FILTER AND FUEL TANK WITH ATTACHMENTS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING , item -5-.
- Check line -3- (from fuel tank) for blockage.
If vacuum does not build up:
- Install fuel filler cap.
- Operate hand vacuum pump US 8026/VAG 1390 several times.
NOTE:
If fuel level is low, it will take longer to build vacuum. The pump must be operated at least 20 to 30 times.
If vacuum builds up:
- Replace fuel filler cap.
