Valve guides, checking and replacing: Replacing

Clean and check cylinder head.

NOTE: Cylinder heads in which the valve seats can no longer be reconditioned, which have already been machined to the minimum dimension (height, 8), or which have previously had replacement version valve guides installed, are not suitable to have the valve guides replaced.

Press out worn valve guides from the top (camshaft side) using tool 3121.
Coat new guides with oil.
Using tool 3121, press in new guides from camshaft side (cylinder head cold) until shoulder of guide makes contact.

NOTE:

The cylinder head must be lying flat.
When the shoulder on the guide makes contact, the pressure must not exceed 1.0 tons, otherwise the shoulder may break off.

Ream guides with hand reamer 3120 using plenty of cutting fluid.
