Valve guides, checking and replacing: Checking

- Insert new valve into guide until end of valve stem is flush with end of guide.
NOTE:
- There are slight differences between intake and exhaust valve stem dimensions.
- Make sure that only an intake valve is used in the intake guide and only an exhaust valve is used in the exhaust guide.
- Determine valve guide play by measuring side-to-side play at valve head:
Wear limit:
- Intake valve guide 1.0 mm (0.040 in.)
- Exhaust valve guide 1.3 mm (0.051 in.)
