WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 11 other vehicles, including the 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, 1999 Volkswagen GTI, 1998 Volkswagen Jetta, 1998 Volkswagen GTI, and 1997 Volkswagen Jetta. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Measure bores at 3 locations in direction -A- across the engine and direction -B- in line with crankshaft
- Use 50-100 mm (2 -4 in.) internal micrometer
- Max. deviation from nominal diameter: 0.08 mm (0.0031 in.)
CAUTION:
- DO NOT measure the cylinder bores when the cylinder block is mounted on a repair stand (with adapter bracket 3269).
- Incorrect measurements may result from distortion of the cylinder block as it is supported only by the engine stand.
