Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system components, removing and installing (California only): Notes

NOTE: The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system function is monitored by the On Board Diagnostic system in the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) -J220-.

  1. CO tap tube 
    • Where applicable
  2. EGR temperature sensor -G98- 
  3. Intake manifold, upper 
  4. Gasket 
    • Always replace
  5. Bracket 
  6. 10 Nm (7 ft lb) 
  7. Connector 
  8. EGR valve 
  9. 35 Nm (26 ft lb) 
  10. 30 Nm (22 ft lb) 
  11. To exhaust manifold 
  12. To upper intake manifold 
  13. To Thermal Vacuum Valve (TVV) on upper air cleaner 
  14. Air cleaner 
    • Dirty air cleaner element can affect performance
  15. EGR vacuum regulator solenoid valve -N18-
