Cooling system components, body side

  1. Mounting 
  2. 10 Nm (7 ft lb) 
  3. Radiator 
  4. V-belt 
    • Only with optional equipment
  5. Guide ring 
    • Note installation position
    • Attached to fan shroud, item 10, with clips
  6. Coolant Fan -V7- 
  7. Coolant hose, upper 
  8. - Coolant hose, lower 
    • To coolant pump, see  6
  9. Auxiliary fan 
  10. Fan shroud 
    • Note installation position
  11. Connector 
  12. Cover 
  13. Expansion tank 
  14. To coolant pipe or connector flange 
  15. To ATF cooler 
    • For vehicles with automatic transmission

  17. Cap 
    • Check with VAG1274 and VAG1274/4
    • Test pressure: 1.3-1.5 bar (19-22 psi)
  18. Coolant Fan Control (FC) Thermal Switch -F18- 
    • Tightening torque: 35 Nm (26 ft lb)

      Switching temperatures, 1st stage:

    • ON: 92 -97 °C (197-206 °F)
    • OFF: 84-91 °C (183-195 °F)

      Switching temperatures, 2nd stage:

    • ON: 99 -105 °C (210-221 °F)
    • OFF: 91-98 °C (195-208 °F)
  19. Rubber bushing
