Basic setting, initiating (function 04)

NOTE:
Initiate the basic setting after performing the following repairs:
- Engine replacement
- Engine control module (ECM) replacement
- Replacing/altering throttle valve (setting idling speed)
- Throttle Position (TP) Sensor -G69-replacement
- TP Sensor -G69- setting alteration, e.g. when adjusting Closed Throttle Position (CTP) switch (engine)
- Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217-replacement
- Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool and enter address word "02 Transmission electronics." Advance until "Select function XX" appears in the display. See VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST), connecting and selecting functions .
Indicated on display:
- Press buttons -0- and -4- to select function 04, Initiating basic setting.
NOTE:
The accelerator pedal must remain in idling position.
Indicated on display:
- Press -Q- button to confirm entry.
Indicated on display:
- Press buttons -0-, -0- and -0-.
- Press -Q- button to confirm entry.
Indicated on display:
The system is now in basic setting.
- Depress accelerator pedal as far as kickdown and hold this position for 3 seconds.
- Press button.
