Brake fluid, changing

WARNING:
- Use only new brake fluid conforming to US Standard FMVSS 116 DOT 4. Genuine VW/Audi brake fluid conforms to this specification.
- Brake fluid is poisonous. Do not ingest brake fluid. Wash thoroughly with soap and water if brake fluid comes into contact with skin.
CAUTION:
- Do not let brake fluid come into contact with paintwork because of its caustic effect.
- Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the surrounding air and should always be stored in airtight containers.
- Connect brake filling and bleeding tool VW 1238, VAG 1238/1 or VAG 1238/B to brake reservoir. Use adapter -1-, with seal -2- and connector -3-.
- Draw off as much brake fluid as possible from the reservoir.
- Insert brake pedal depressor between drivers seat and brake pedal and tension.
- Open bleeder screws and allow the appropriate quantity of brake fluid to drain out. The used brake fluid is forced out of the system by pumping in fresh fluid.

- Remove brake filling and bleeding tool from brake fluid reservoir and remove brake pedal depressor.
- Check pedal pressure and idle travel at brake pedal.
Idle travel: max. 1/3 of pedal travel.
