Cruise control system overview: Notes

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 27 other vehicles, including the 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio, 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, and 1999 Volkswagen Golf. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Before working on the electrical system:
  • Obtain radio anti-theft code.
  • Ignition OFF !
  • Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
NOTE:
  • After reconnecting battery:
    • Activate vehicle equipment such as radio, clock and power windows as per Owner's Manual.
    • On vehicles equipped with OBD II, activate readiness code. See READINESS CODE, CREATING in appropriate ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) .

  2. - Throttle control element 
  3. - T-connector 
  4. - Cruise control, control module -J213- 
  5. - Relay panel 
  6. - Wiring harness 
  7. - Cruise control switch -E45- 
  8. - Cruise control vacuum pump -V18- 
  9. - Vacuum hose 
  10. - Clutch vacuum vent valve switch -F36 - 
  11. - Brake vacuum vent valve switch -F47-
