Compact Disc (CD) changer, installing (vehicles with "Sound System" radios): Notes
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 27 other vehicles, including the 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio, 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, and 1999 Volkswagen Golf. The following describes the factory approved service installation of Volkswagen CD changers, Part No. 1J6 035 111 into Golf, Cabrio and Jetta vehicles equipped with Volkswagen Sound System Radios, Part No. 1J0 035 180 C.
NOTE:
- Use the following factory developed CD changer kits containing model specific mounting brackets and hardware:
- Golf/Cabrio: Part No. 1HM 098 201
- Jetta: Part No. 1HM 098 111 F
- Some 1998 m.y. vehicles equipped with Sound System were not factory equipped with CD prep. Before proceeding with installation, inspect for CD prep:
- Vehicles not equipped with CD prep require installation of a CD changer cable as listed:
- Golf/Cabrio: Part No. 1HM 035 592 F
- Jetta: Part No. 1HM 035 592 E
- Installing CD changer cable, refer to Figure .

- Never install CD changer in a location, position, or manner other than specified by these instructions.
