Golf/Cabrio/Jetta, installation: Setting:: Bottom

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 27 other vehicles, including the 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio, 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, and 1999 Volkswagen Golf. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
  • Angle of installation selection switches may be preset at the manufacturer for horizontal ("H") installation.
  • Always check/set switches prior to CD changer installation.
  • Switches must move completely to their end positions.
CAUTION: Before proceeding with installation:
  • Obtain radio security code.
  • Note customer's pre-set radio stations.
  • Ignition OFF!
  • Disconnect Battery Ground (GND) strap.
NOTE: Ensure cable is secured in a manner to prevent rattles and squeaks.

NOTE: Bracket mounting flanges will pass through side panel carpet at locations -a- and -b- when fastened to floor (see illustration).

NOTE: After reconnecting battery:
  • Activate vehicle equipment such as clock and power windows as per Repair Manual and/or Owner's Manual.
  • On vehicles equipped with OBD II, activate readiness code
