Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, checking (function 02): Notes

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 27 other vehicles, including the 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio, 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, and 1999 Volkswagen Golf. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: DTCs stored in memory along with corresponding malfunction descriptions can only be displayed by initiating the On Board Diagnostic program and checking DTC memory (function 02).

Indicated on display (select function):

The number of stored malfunctions appears in the display.

The number of stored DTCs or "No DTC s recognized" appears in the display and are printed out one after another.

If "No DTC recognized" is displayed, the program will return to the initial position after pressing button.

If display not indicated as shown: check Scan tool operating instructions.

NOTE: If DTCs were recognized, follow the sequence below:
  1. Correct malfunction.
  2. Erase Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory (function 05).
  3. Check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory (function 02).
