Lost key procedure

- Determine all numbers required for key preparation and the adaptation procedure to follow:
- Lock number of ignition key:
- On customer's key chain,
- Available from distributor or importer upon provision of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
- Identification number of control module for immobilizer for determining secret number:
- Readable via On Board Diagnostic (OBD), see "Check control module version". See VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST), connecting and selecting functions (check control module version) .
NOTE:- In order to prevent mix-ups and incorrect entry, always check the control module version using the VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST) to determine the 14 digit identification number of the control module for immobilizer. Then use the identification number to request the 4-digit secret number required for adaptation from the appropriate distributor or importer.
- Every control module for immobilizer has its own secret number!
- Secret number for performing adaptation:
- Use 14 digit identification number to request secret number from appropriate distributor or importer.
- Prepare replacement key using customer's spare key or order using lock number.NOTE:
- There are different ignition keys with different types of transponders. Note part number when ordering!
- Replacement ignition keys for immobilizers of the 3rd generation must be marked with an imprinted "W3".
