Test procedure

Open instrument panel vents -1-.
Start engine.
Set ventilation control knobs as shown in Fig 1.

- A/C switch -E35 - ON
- "Max" button -3- pressed
  Check components and specified functions using A/C DOES NOT COOL - EVAPORATOR AND A/C LINES AT AMBIENT TEMPERATURE (1993 M.Y.) table:

Remedy if specified function not obtained

4 - Fresh air/recirculating flap

Fresh air inlet -5- closed to outside air (system operating in recirculating air mode)

Check fresh air/recirculating flap two-way valve - N63- according to wiring diagram

Vacuum servo -6- retracted (vacuum applied)

Check vacuum hoses and connections according to vacuum hose layout, refer to VACUUM HOSE LAYOUT

3 - A/C Switch -E35-

With engine off and ignition switched on, A/C clutch -N25- must audibly click when "Max." button is pressed repeatedly

Check A/C pressure switch -F129-, refer to FUNCTIONS
Locate malfunction using wiring diagram⁽¹⁾

Remove 4-point connector from A/C pressure switch -F129- and electrically bridge terminals 1 and 2 of connector. If A/C clutch -N25- clicks ON, system is empty (no refrigerant). If A/C clutch -N25- does not click ON and voltage is present (at least 9.5 V) at A/C clutch connector, A/C clutch - N25- is faulty.
