Camshaft, removing and installing: Installing

NOTE:
- When installing the camshaft, the cam lobes for cylinder 1 must point upward.
- When installing, make sure the bearing cap is centrally positioned. Before installing, set bearing cap in place and determine installation position.
- Oil running surfaces of camshaft.
- Tighten bearing caps 2 and 4 alternately and diagonally to 20 Nm.
- Install bearing cap 5, 1 and 3 and tighten to 20 Nm.
- Install bearing cap 5 into place by lightly tapping on end face of camshaft.
- Set camshaft sprocket in place.
- Toothed belt, installing, tensioning. Refer to Toothed belt, removing, installing and tensioning .
NOTE:
- After installing new valve lifters, the engine may not be started for approx. 30 minutes. The hydraulic equalization elements must seat themselves (otherwise the valves will crash into the pistons).
