Test step 3

This checks the function of Parking Brake Warning Light Switch -F9-.

Set measuring range to 20 V.
Switch on ignition.

Measure between terminal 4 and terminal 2 (Ground) on disconnected connector.

Specified value: more than 6 V

Engage parking brake.

Specified value: less than 0.5 V

If specified values are not obtained:

Check wiring to instrument cluster (T32a/13) for open circuit or short circuit to B+ Electrical Wiring Diagrams, Troubleshooting Component Locations.

If specified values are still not obtained:

Check wiring from terminal T32/1 (instrument cluster) to terminal 15 via fuse No. 11 (5 A).

If no malfunction is found:

Replace Parking Brake Warning Light switch -F9- → 46 BRAKES - MECHANICAL COMPONENTS .
