Leak detection pump and EVAP canister, removing and installing

The leak detection pump (LDP) V144 is installed in right rear wheel housing. It is connected to the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve N80 in the engine compartment and EVAP canister via connecting lines. The EVAP canister is installed below vehicle floor in area of spare tire well.
Removing leak detection pump
- Raise vehicle.
- Remove right rear wheel.
- Remove rear right wheel housing liner: Refer to 66 EXTERIOR EQUIPMENT
- Unbolt cover plate in front of tank filler tube.
- Disconnect the connector - 1 - from the leak detection pump (LDP) V144, and separate vent line - 2 - at the connection.
- Unclip vent line to Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve N80 - 3 - in wheelhousing and separate connection.
- Securing nuts - 4 - can be removed and remove leak diagnosis pump (LDP) V144.
Removing EVAP canister
- Remove muffler, refer to Muffler with mountings, assembly overview .
- Remove heat shield above muffler from floor.
- Unscrew right and left stabilizer bar mounts from the underbody. Refer to 42 REAR SUSPENSION
- Remove cover under the EVAP canister.
- Disconnect connector - 1 - from Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve 2 N115.
- Turn out three studs - arrows -, and remove the EVAP canister from well.
Installing
- Installation of EVAP canister system is performed in reverse order.
When installing, make sure that the vent lines are connected securely and not kinked.
