Cooling system components (on engine), assembly overview

1 - To heat exchanger
- Coolant hose connection diagram, refer to Coolant hose connection diagram
2 - Sealing cap
- Check using cooling system tester V.A.G 1274 and adapter V.A.G 1274/9
- Pressure release valve must open at a pressure of 1.4 to 1.6 bar.
3 - O-ring
- Replace if damaged
4 - Reservoir
- Perform cooling system leakage test with cooling system tester V.A.G 1274 and adapter V.A.G 1274/8
- Test pressure 1.4 to 1.6 bar
5 - 10 Nm
6 - Upper coolant line
- Clipped to bulkhead
7 - From heat exchanger
- Coolant hose connection diagram, refer to Coolant hose connection diagram
8 - Lower coolant line
- Fastened at the intake manifold support and shield
9 - Throttle valve control module J338
- Coolant heated
10 - To upper radiator
- Coolant hose connection diagram, refer to Coolant hose connection diagram
11 - Oil seal
- Replace
12 - Bracket
13 - Coolant thermostat housing
- Disassembling and assembling, refer to Coolant thermostat housing, assembly overview
14 - From lower radiator
- Coolant hose connection diagram, refer to Coolant hose connection diagram
15 - O-ring
- Replace
16 - Coolant line
17 - O-ring
- Replace
- Oil before assembling
18 - Oil filter housing
- With oil cooler
- Disassembling and assembling, refer to Oil filter housing, assembly overview
19 - 25 Nm
20 - Sealing plug, 3 Nm
21 - After-run coolant pump V51
- Fastened to cylinder block with bracket
- Checking, refer to After-run coolant pump, checking
22 - Coolant pump
- Note installation position
- Check for ease of movement
- If damaged or leaking replace completely
- Removing and installing, refer to Coolant pump, removing and installing
23 - Pulley
- For coolant pump
- Removing and installing ribbed belt, refer to Ribbed belt, removing and installing under Ribbed belt, removing and installing
24 - 20 Nm
- Use water pump wrench V.A.G 1590 to loosen and tighten, refer to Coolant pump, removing and installing
25 - 8 Nm
