Camshaft, removing and installing: Removing

- Remove toothed belt. Refer to Toothed belts, removing, installing and tensioning .
- Remove camshaft pulley securing bolts - 1 -.
- Pull camshaft pulley off hub.
- Use counterhold T10051 and loosen hub securing bolt - 1 -.
- Loosen hub securing bolt about 2 turns.
- Set up puller T10052 and align it with holes in hub.
- Apply tension to hub by evenly tightening puller until hub separates from taper of camshaft.
NOTE:
- Hold puller with a 30 mm wrench while doing this.
- Remove hub from taper of camshaft.
- Remove cylinder head cover. Refer to Cylinder head cover, removing and installing .
- Remove rocker arm shafts.
NOTE:
- First loosen both the outer and then the inner securing bolts respectively.
- Mark rocker arm shafts - arrows - using a permanent felt tip marker to prevent interchanging, thus preventing requirement for basic (default) settings of unit injectors.
- Remove tandem pump. Refer to Tandem pump, removing and installing .
- Remove bearing caps 5, 1 and 3. Loosen bearing caps 2 and 4 alternately and diagonally.
- Remove camshaft.
