Power steering gear right hand drive, assembly overview

Power steering gear is not serviceable. If complaints are received, determine cause with the help of pressure tests, leak test and Guided fault finding. If a malfunction exists replace power steering gear.

NOTE:
  • Replace self-locking nuts and bolts. Welding and straightening work on steering components is not permitted.
  • Only use steering gear grease AOF 063 000 04  to grease the rack
  • Replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
  • Type of fluid: Hydraulic fluid G 002 000 

Torque specifications for

are the same for left and right-hand drive steering gear

They are not shown on the following illustration.

1 - Hex nut, 24 Nm

2 - Hex head bolt, 24 Nm

3 - Selector mechanism bearing bracket

4 - Heat shield

5 - Sealing rings

6 - Banjo bolt, 38 Nm

M 14 x 1.5

7 - Return line

Must be supported on this fixed pin - arrow  -

8 - Clamp with rubber mounting

Installed location

9 - Return line

10 - Banjo bolt, 38 Nm

M 14 x 1.5

11 - Banjo bolt, 45 Nm

M 16 x 1.5 x 22

12 - Hex head bolt, 8 Nm
