EPC warning lamp (malfunction lamp for power accelerator activation) in instrument cluster, significance

"EPC" is an abbreviation and stands for Electronic Power Control.

Engine Control Module (ECM) checks all components that are important for function of the EPC system after ignition is switched on.

If malfunctions are recognized in the EPC system during operation of the engine, the ECM switches on the EPC warning lamp in instrument cluster. (These malfunctions are listed in the DTC table). An entry is made in DTC memory at the same time.

Function test: 

EPC warning lamp must light up.

If EPC indicator lamp does not light when ignition is switched on:

Refer to 01 ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD)

If EPC warning lamp does not light when ignition is switched on, continue test as follows:

EPC warning lamp must go out after a few seconds.
