Vehicles with front wheel drive (FWD): Notes

1 - Filler cap 

2 - Oil seal 

• Replace if damaged

3 - Bolt 

4 - Tank flap unit 

• With rubber cup

5 - Ground (GND) connection 

6 - O-ring 

• Always replace

7 - Breather valve 

• To remove valve unclip sideways out of support
• Before installing remove sealing cap
• Checking Checking breather valve 

8 - 10 Nm 

9 - Vent line 

• Ensure seated tightly

10 - Lock washer 

11 - Heat shield 

12 - Cover for fuel tank 

13 - 25 Nm 

14 - Securing strap 

• Observe varying lengths

15 - Fuel tank 

• Support with engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A when removing
• Removing and installing. Refer to Fuel tank, removing and installing 

16 - Oil seal 

• Replace if damaged
• To install, place into opening of fuel tank dry
• Moisten with fuel only when installing flange

17 - Sender for fuel gauge 

• Note installed position on fuel tank Installed location of the fuel gauge sender 

18 - Union nut 

• Use ring nut wrench 3217 for removal and installation

19 - Supply line 

• To fuel filter. Refer to Fuel filter, assembly overview 
• Clipped in at fuel tank
• Ensure seated tightly
• Black

• To remove from flange, press release buttons on connecting piece

20 - Return line 

• From fuel filter. Refer to Fuel filter, assembly overview 
• At connection - R  -
• Blue or with blue marking
• Clipped in at fuel tank

• Ensure seated tightly
• To remove from flange, press release buttons on connecting piece

21 - Gravity/expansion valve 

• To remove valve unclip upward out of support
• Check valve for through-flow, Valve vertical: open, Valve angled at 45 ° : Closed

22 - Angle piece
