For the initial measurement, an adjustment shim S 2 with a thickness of 1.75 mm is inserted. It is designated as S 2* in the following. After determining backlash, S 2* is replaced by final adjustment shim S 2 .

NOTE:
  • For some transmissions, adjustment shim S 1 is located between oil deflector ring and large cover. Here the oil deflector ring must also be removed and a preliminary adjustment shim S 1 must be installed, which corresponds to the thickness of the oil deflector ring, e.g. 0.75 mm. For replacement Part No. Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
