Work sequence

- Disconnect electrical connector from Coolant Fan Control (FC) Thermal Switch F18.
- Use auxiliary cables from Auxiliary measuring tool set VAG 1594 A to bypass contact - 1 - and contact - 2 - of connector.
Stage 1 of coolant fans Coolant Fan V7 and Right coolant fan V35 should start.
- Switch ignition on.
- Use auxiliary cables from Auxiliary measuring tool set VAG 1594 A to bypass contact - 2 - and contact - 3 - of connector.
Stage 2 of coolant fans Coolant Fan V7 and Right coolant fan V35 should start.
If Stage 1 or 2 of the fans does not start:
- Use wiring diagram to find and repair open circuit: Refer to Electrical Wiring Diagrams, Troubleshooting and Component Locations
If no open circuit could be found:
- Replace Coolant Fan V7 or Right coolant fan V35 , respectively.
