Work sequence

- Connect VAG1551 or VAG1552 scan tool.
- Press buttons -0- and -1- to select the "Engine Electronics" address word 01, see VAG1551 SCAN TOOL (ST), CONNECTING .
Indicated on display
- Press buttons -0- and -2- to select the "Check DTC Memory" function 02.
- Press -Q- button to confirm input.
- Press ==> button until all stored DTCs have been displayed, and scan tool display appears as shown.
- Press buttons -0- and -5- to select the "Erase DTC Memory" function 05.
- Press -Q- button to confirm input.

NOTE:
If DTC memory cannot be erased, there is still a DTC stored in the ECM, indicating a malfunction that must first be corrected.
- Press ==> button.

- Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" function 06.
- Press -Q- button to confirm input.
- Road test.
- Check DTC memory again.
There must be no malfunctions recognized
- Display readiness code, see READINESS CODE, DISPLAYING .
If DTC memory has been erased:
- Create readiness code again, see READINESS CODE, SETTING (UP TO M.Y. 1997) .
