Connect VAG1551 or VAG1552 scan tool.
Press buttons -0- and -1- to select the "Engine Electronics" address word 01, see VAG1551 SCAN TOOL (ST), CONNECTING .

Press buttons -0- and -2- to select the "Check DTC Memory" function 02.
Press -Q- button to confirm input.

Press ==> button until all stored DTCs have been displayed, and scan tool display appears as shown.

Press buttons -0- and -5- to select the "Erase DTC Memory" function 05.
Press -Q- button to confirm input.

NOTE: If DTC memory cannot be erased, there is still a DTC stored in the ECM, indicating a malfunction that must first be corrected.

Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" function 06.
Press -Q- button to confirm input.
Road test.
Check DTC memory again.
There must be no malfunctions recognized

If DTC memory has been erased:

Create readiness code again, see READINESS CODE, SETTING (UP TO M.Y. 1997) .
