Work sequence

Connect VAG1551 or VAG1552 scan tool.
See VAG1551 SCAN TOOL (ST), CONNECTING .
Switch ignition on.
- Press buttons -0- and -1- to select the "Engine Electronics" address word 01.

Press buttons -0- and -7- to select "Code Control Module" function 07.
Press -Q- button to confirm input.

Enter appropriate code number for vehicle, and press -Q- button to confirm input.

CONTROL MODULE CODING (VEHICLE CODE NUMBER)

Coding	For vehicles with:
00001	Automatic transmission
00002	Manual transmission

Indicated on display (Diesel DFI ECM identification)

NOTE: Make sure that the code number displayed corresponds to the code number that has been entered.

Switch ignition off, then back on again.

New coding must be indicated on display

NOTE:

To activate the coding, switch the ignition off, then back on.
If, after entering a valid code number, the ignition is not switched off and on, "ECM incorrectly coded" will be stored in DTC memory and cannot be erased.

Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" function 06.
Press -Q- button to confirm input.

NOTE: The coding entered and indicated on the display will not be used by the Diesel DFI ECM until the ignition has been switched off once.

NOTE: Incorrect coding leads to:

Engine running malfunctions
Increased fuel consumption
Malfunctions are stored in DTC memory that did not actually occur
Reduced transmission life
