Rear axle beam mount, repairing
If the threads of the cap nut in the body side member are damaged, they must be re-tapped or drilled out and re-tapped.
- Remove rear axle beam.
- Drill through damaged cap nut with 10.2 mm (13/32 in.) diameter drill.
WARNING:
Wear protective goggles when drilling.
CAUTION:
Maintain proper alignment and DO NOT tilt the drill.
- Cut new M12 x 1.5 thread in cap nut.
- Install rear axle beam using new fasteners.
- Bolts, Part No. N 010 137.4 (M12 x 1.5 x 35)
- Washers, Part No. N 011 531.7
- Tightening torque: 70 N.m (52 ft lb)
