Control unit in steering wheel -E221-, removing and installing

WARNING:
Special safety precautions apply to vehicles equipped with airbags. Refer to 69 - PASSENGER PROTECTION - AIRBAGS, SEAT BELTS .
CAUTION:
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:
- Obtain anti-theft radio security code.
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
- Disconnect negative ( - ) battery terminal.
- When disconnecting and reconnecting battery terminals, observe all applicable Notes and torque specifications, as well as instructions on performing OBD program and electrical system function checks as specified. Refer to 27 BATTERY, STARTER, GENERATOR, CRUISE CONTROL .
Removing
- Remove driver's airbag, refer to 69 - PASSENGER PROTECTION - AIRBAGS, SEAT BELTS .
- Remove bolts -arrows- from operating unit.
- Disconnect electrical connections -arrows-.
- Remove unit from steering wheel.
Installing
- Install in reverse order of removal.
