Test sequence
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, 1998 Volkswagen Jetta, 1997 Volkswagen Passat, 1997 Volkswagen Jetta, and 1996 Volkswagen Passat. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Remove connecting pipe between intake pipe and charge air cooler.
- Disconnect vacuum hose from EGR valve (in intake manifold).
- Connect US8026 hand vacuum pump to EGR valve.
- Operate vacuum pump.
- The valve plate must lift from valve seat (observe membrane cam via intake opening).
- Disconnect US8026 hand vacuum pump from EGR valve.
- Valve must audibly close (valve plate must position itself again on valve seat)
